Toll By Plate

Home Toll By Plate

PA toll roads, simplified. With All-Electronic Tolling, it's never been easier to travel the PA Turnpike.

No Cash. No Stopping. No Worries.

To make traveling the PA Turnpike safer and easier, we've implemented All-Electronic Tolling across the entire roadway. You no longer stop at Toll Points. Non-E-ZPass customers now pay their toll using PA Turnpike Toll By Plate. Toll By Plate is a license plate tolling system that captures a picture of the vehicle’s license plate as it travels through a Toll Point. An invoice with the travel information is mailed to the vehicle's registered owner.

Or you can become an E-ZPass customer today and save nearly 60% on your tolls.

How it Works

Understanding Your Invoice

A Toll By Plate invoice has the Toll By Plate logo that looks like a license plate on the top. The invoice includes a photo of your vehicle's license plate. The invoice is a multiple page document that includes toll activity for one license plate within the 30-day invoice cycle.

If you have any questions about your invoice, visit our Help Center.

What's Included in an Invoice

Page 1

The first page of the invoice contains summary information about the registered owner of the vehicle, account activity, and payment options. The bottom portion of the page includes a Payment Remittance stub to include with mailed payment. This is where you will find your amount due.

Page 2

The second page of the invoice includes all activity for one license plate within the 30-day billing invoice period.

Page 3

The third page of the invoice contains information on how to appeal for the following reasons: E-ZPass customer, rental vehicle, or invoice error. The bottom portion of the page includes an Appeal Remittance stub to include with mailed appeal.

Invoice payments can be mailed to:
PA Turnpike Toll By Plate
PO Box 645631
Pittsburgh, PA 15264-5254

If the initial invoice is not paid or resolved within 30 days, a past due invoice will be mailed. Past due invoices include a  late fee of either $5 or the equivalent of 1.5% of the total amount owed, whichever is higher. Invoices that remain unpaid after 60 days will be sent to a collections agency.

Unpaid Tolls

Maintaining unpaid tolls could risk suspension of a vehicle registration. Act 112 of 2022 allows the suspension of vehicle registration for any Pennsylvania motorist with four or more unpaid PA Turnpike tolls or toll invoices totaling $250 or more.
